Tony/Loki recs - End of Poetic Justice

(Anonymous) 2013-10-17 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Off the Record is complete. Poetic Justice just ended today. Bend around the Wind will be done in a month. And I've read all the long fics from this year's FrostIron bang already.

Anyone got 40k+ word Tony/Loki recs? Preferably ones that are not on AO3 as there's a good chance I've read them already.

Hrm, not on A03...just this one (it has a sequel). I can't remember how good it is but I must have enjoyed it enough to bookmark it.

You are welcome! Do you have any non AO3 recs?

Not much that comes to mind immediately, as I read mostly on AO3 via the Loki/Tony Stark tag. I did find a few one-shots by road_of_ruin (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/3520960/Road-of-Ruin) that aren't cross-posted to AO3. Hella (of Off the Record fame) does ficlets on tumblr without cross-posting sometimes, but I have no way of finding them easily (and many of them were lost when she deleted her tumblr last time).

I'm not very helpful, sorry. :(

Aw. That's okay. I still have not read Off the Record. I keep trying to (I even downloaded the .mobi) but I just can't get into it for some reason.

Ah yes, you've said that before. How far did you get? It's been a long time since I've read OTR all the way through from the top, I don't remember what the style of writing was like but I do remember Tony and Loki being brilliant.

Just skimmed through the first 4 chapters. Yep, the rest of the Avengers and SHIELD can go off somewhere else, Tony and Loki make this fic. I want to quote you passages showing how fun Tony and Loki are together but SPOILERS D:

Checking my kindle, I have read to Chapter 4. I'll give it another try tomorrow!

Chapter 9, 10 and 12 are beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Tony and Pepper getting the upper hand on Fury (chapter 10). I don't know if skimming ahead and skipping "boring" parts help. Though on re-read (even skimming it), I've found a few references and foreshadows that I didn't pick up on the first read-through.

I won't judge if you never finish it. God knows I am more and more selective on what I read now.

Nine Lives by MavarikLoki. I don't think it's on Ao3, but I could easily be wrong. Loki gets stuck as a cat and gets inadvertently adopted by Tony. It eventually turns into Tony/Loki near the end, and throughout the sequel.

That's a pretty cute fic. It feels like I read it forever ago.

It's on AO3! http://archiveofourown.org/series/18878

I have it open on a separate tab actually, for re-reading if I am really REALLY desperate for fic. Thank you for the rec anyway. Great minds think alike! ;)

Well, hey, thanks for the better link! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I would have sworn I had another link, but I can't find it at all.

I didn't mean to say the AO3 link was better, it was the link to the tab containing the story I had open and I just copied and pasted it. I do have to say that AO3's ability to group stories into series is dead useful. It saved me a lot of headache and scrolling to find the sequels and prequels to stories.

If you do end up finding that second link and don't mind pasting it, I'd like that very much! <3

I never realized this is the original Lokitty fic or one of the first FrostIron fics. Thanks again for the rec, it was a nice trip down memory lane!

I wish I could've finished Poetic Justice, but it felt like it was just spinning it's wheels for the longest time and I couldn't go on after a while.

Re: Tony/Loki recs - End of Poetic Justice

It's definitely not one of my fav Tony/Loki fics but it's always reliably updated (so I can get my fix). I've got a few other go-to authors but they write slowly, and a handful of wips that haven't been updated for half a year or longer. Poetic Justice was entertaining enough compared to what other fics were being updated at the same time, and that's probably the main reason why I finished it.

(I did take several breaks, for what it's worth.)

How long did it take for something to happen? Because I read for maybe 3 hours (chapter 46) and their relationship hadn't really changed.

53 is when Loki gets into trouble with Asgard for violating terms of his stay with Tony.

After that, Tony spends more time with Loki and slowly realizes he has feelings for him.

73 is when Tony gets invited to talk about Loki in Asgard.

111 is when Tony and Loki return to Earth from Asgard.

116 is when they finally stop dancing around each other. There were actions before this chapter but not with both of them participating, if you get what I mean ;)

The pace was rather slow, now that I think about it. It wasn't that bad when I had to wait days between updates haha.
