I usually use Holmes and Watson when I mean the ACD canon, RDJ!Holmes when I mean RDJ's Holmes and so on, and Sherlock and John when I mean BBC!canon. Tbh I don't ship most other Holmes and Watson, BBC!canon is just so full of subtext I can't help but love them.
