He killed himself in "Memnoch" but got brought back to life in the next book (which was called "Armand" if I recall correctly. I also cannot remember HOW he got brought back to life, but yeah, that happened). So if you stopped reading the Vampire Chronicles after the atrocity that was "Memnoch", that's why you don't know. :)
