Exactly. It strikes me as kind of misogynistic. Why bring up the fact that they're female? Why not just say they're just jerky players?

DA

The players in question bring up the fact that they're female, constantly. And wear it like a badge of honor that entitles them to special treatment. That's the whole issue.

Because jerky players are different from gamer girls. Or more accurately, there are jerky players and gamer girls are a subset of those.

probably because the "gamer girls" (at least the ones i've encountered personally) are the ones making a huge deal about being female in the first place.

i've played mmos for years. there are plenty of female players around, it's not like you're a special snowflake just for being a girl. hell, a good chunk of my guild is female. the "gamer girls" the op speaks of are the ones who think they SHOULD be special snowflakes for being a girl who plays games.

Hmm, yeah, you bring up a legit point, but I still don't really like term because I see it used to label girls who don't fit some sort of "gamer stereotype."

You speak the words of someone who has never ever countered a gamer girl. They are their own special circle of video game hell.

They actively use their feminity in their quest to be the jerkiest jerks in jerkdom, which makes it that much more difficult for other women to be taken seriously and respected while playing video games.
