Re: fanfic writers with fun audience interaction?

I love that fic, but have always hated the commentary. Probably one of my favorite kid-fics, prob because it was one of the first I read. But yeah that cow thing and their 'in character' stuff just annoyed me. When I finally saved it to my hard-drive I actually went through and made sure to delete all of that so it was just the story.

I've seen authors on AO3 do the same thing, where they put little updates in the end Notes section, keeping up a theme or a story as they go along.

Hah! I can understand it being a love it or hate it deal. I think part of it is that I understand the dilemma of a fanfic writer--namely trying to balance 'I really want reviews us guise' and 'well it's kinda lame to beg for reviews'. The way he instead was like, "Of course I am militant is requesting reviews, I am in the military! Give me reviews!" or "I am awash in sadness at the loss of my beloved cow, without reviews I don't think I will be able to muster the energy to leave the barn." made me laugh. ;)

Yeah, I hope I didn't come off as bashing you or anything. I do think it's a love it or hate it deal, and I just happened to hate it. Which doesn't mean I think you're not allowed to love it!
