Every now and then I actually go ahead for something that's porny even though I usually skim over the porn, because darnit, I've read all the non-porn for a particular pairing.

Several times, I've done that and the porn or the lead-up to it is not so bad... then like, one of the characters starts crying. :P Once, very memorably, I was like "Wow, this is a really good story, the dialogue is fun and in-character!" right up until the sex ended, and suddenly the character who initiated the sex (who canonically is extremely pushy and narcissistic and selfish) started crying and having a panic attack about how he'd RAPED the other character, and the other character (who in canon is basically tough and blunt to the point of being a complete jerk most of the time) was all like "No honey, no, you didn't rape me, sweetie stop crying" and being all patronizing.

It went from being one of the best fics I'd read of the pairing to one of the worst within a couple paragraphs. I went back and read the first half of the fic a couple times and just... stopped at a certain point. :P
