Is there a reason his eyebrows creep you out? They look like ordinary eyebrows to me. Then again, I like Hugo Weaving, so maybe that's why I have no issue with his eyebrows.

He is one of the very rare cases (maybe the only case) where I have been so thrown out of the narrative because he didn't look like I expected the character to look. And I didn't even go in with an idea of what Elrond might look like - I just was like, 'Wait, what?!' To this day, I have to brace myself before I can watch scenes with Elrond in them.

I think the eyebrows might have something to do with it.

I've come to love Hugo Weaving (definitely one of my favourite actors) but I think he's terribly miscast as Elrond.

I think the worst crime with film!Elrond is how they wrote him. imo, Elrond is one of the characters they butchered the most in the adaptation process.

SA Oh yes, I blame the writing a lot as well. I think that PJ and the other writers just don't really get Tolkien's Elves generally, but Elrond suffered even more than other characters.

Appropriate, given that's how Peter Jackson characterised his Elves (except the young elf-maidens, who are rebellious and have emotions and emphasise with mortals).

Interesting. I felt the portrayal of Vulcans on Enterprise was very LotR-inspired, especially the costumes (not T'pol's catsuits, but that ambassador guy would have looked at home in Rivendell).

I find Thranduil's eyebrows creepy. They're creepier than Legolas's.

Agreed. Lee Pace's eyebrows are stunning irl because he has short dark hair, but with the long blonde wig and rimmed contacts they are bizarre. They needed to arch them more or something, damn.

The one thing I am glad of is that the two characters do match, with both of them having the dark eyebrows with the blond hair.

It's just, Thranduil's brows remind me of Hetalia England.

I wish PJ had dyed both Legolas' and Thranduil's eyebrows to match their hair (or used fake brows), Soairse Ronan has pale hair and brows in Hanna and it works
