I was just about to say this. If LJ is "dying" from anything, because of piss poor management and business choices that have alienated a sizable portion of their -sometimes paying- userbase. Hell, I stopped giving them money years ago because I couldn't justify giving them money after making what I felt were horrible business decisions.

The migration to instantaneous update social media sites (Twitter and Tumblr mostly) more than likely also played a huge factor in it as well, not discounting that either. But the lions share of the 'LJ is dying' notion/reality is the sites own doing.

Yeah, agreed. LJ had controversy after controversy, mismanagement issue after mismanagement issue, treating their users like shit (unless, of course, they're Russian), and apparently they're still continuing with that shit. I'm admittedly on Tumblr far more than I'm on DW, yeah, but LJ shot themselves in the foot without Tumblr having anything to do with it.

nah, men, they treat russian users as shit too, and also they tried to ban russians from DW. (censoring issues) tumblr stays as only option, yeay, tumblr.

Oh wow, really? I haven't been keeping up with it - the final straw on LJ for me was when they did that big horrible redesign that was only broadcasted ahead of time on the Cyrillic site, and when that one guy whose username escapes my mind basically went on an insult spree about how the only people who were upset about it were 'stupid Americans'...
