Not really. It's the ratio - a fic can have few hits but still a very good hits : kudos ratio.

what is a good hits:kudos ratio in your opinion?

12:1 to 10:1 is generally considered a great ratio but of course you need to take lots of stuff into account and it doesn't always work.

i'd say this becomes less viable the longer a fic is out there. people can read a fic multiple times but they can only leave kudos once. if it's the kind of fic that gets read multiple times by single individuals, it skews the ratio. still, though, this kind of fic is easily eyeballed using the ratio as a guide.
