Shadow (American gods) is white in my head. I know lot's of people question him about being mixed race, but to me that just reinforces that he looks mostly white. I mean if he didn't look white, there would be no question, right?

I am doing it wrong, according to fandom.

If he looked white, he wouldn't have people asking him what he was. That's why people question him about being mixed-race, because they can't figure out what "sort" of mixed-race he is.

See I thought he looked white in the same way Keanu reeves looks white. he looks white but there might be something else there too, and that's why people keep asking.

The bits I remember from American Gods had people asking if he was part Black and someone else asking if he was part Hispanic, which I think implies that his racial background is more obvious. It's been a while since I've read it, though.
