I use tumblr as a platform for sharing things, pictures being only one of them. I do translations of fandom-related things (like doujinshi) sometimes and I've found tumblr to be a great way to get them out there to a wide audience. All I have to do is tag it with the fandom tag, post it, and then let people reblog to their heart's content.

Back when I posted stuff on LJ, a lot fewer people would see it, because you would have to be following the specific communities I posted to in order to find it. With tumblr, people can find my translations just by searching the fandom tag. It makes things so much more accessible and I love it.

That's great, but it doesn't explain why so many people love tumblr even though the only thing they do is like and reblog things.

because it's easy to search for fandom content, just like anon said? i have the tags for my fandoms tracked, so i can look at everything that's been posted in that fandom with a single click. i can also search by character or pairing if i'm looking for shippy stuff.

i almost never reblog anything, i just use it to look at fanworks for my fandoms.
