Or is everyone's youtube covered in Cumberbatch?

I just went to youtube to see if I could find the John Cale cover of "Venus in Furs", and every recommended video was BBC Sherlock related. I checked my watch history: 20 anime OPs, videos by The Lumineers and The Decemberists and bands like that, 2 episodes of The Sweeney, 2 episodes of Peep Show, 3 episodes of So Weird, Pandora Hearts omake, Aaron Paul on The Price is Right, and a corgi stuck in a tent. And 1 episode of Granada Holmes. No BBC Sherlock at all.

If you have a gmail or g+ account logged in google will use that for suggestions, so yeah.

Sort of. They read your emails, so they see the notifications from ao3 and ff.net.

Yep. :) Google sometimes recommends ads to me based on stuff I've written (I wrote a story about a cruise once, and got flooded with a lot of travel offers for a few weeks) but it's mostly harmless.
