5. I wouldn't say "devoted" so much as "bound", but she is pretty cool.

10. I wish she could be as kick-ass a heroine as Zelda... I think someone should pay for Super Princess Peach.

23. The Japanese really need to standardize some form of romanji for use by Westerners. The variations are many and confusing, and it need not be so.

32. I'm sick of it too... but it's not going to stop me from leaping all over Crisis Core, Dissidia, the Tactics port, etc.

35. I keep my fandom side secret from... almost everyone I know in RL.

38. What indeed.

If you don't mind me asking... do you feel guilty for doing so? I sometimes do... but I know that they just generally would not be interested or would misunderstand.

Maybe a bit. i just don't people's first opinion of me to be anime/comic nerd and I learn later that a lot of my friends would think I was weird if I told them. I just(this year) told two of my best friends I LOVED batman. They laughed a bit...and now tease me about it in a good natured way, but I know if i told them that I loved....Bleach, for example, they would def. think I was weird.

I feel ya. Telling people I like anime and manga is one thing, telling people I write slash would make them go o.0 at me.

Most people i don't even tell about the anime/manga thing cuz I went to a small high school and the kids that everyone knew loved anime were really weird so my classmates decided anime lovers=weirdos.
Ah, I'm not a slash fan myself(cept Zabuza/Haku) but then again i love Zucest(AtLA) so that's def worth o.0...probably even D:

10. I actually loved Super Princess Peach. Sure, she was hyperemotional, but so were all the enemies and everyone else. Plus, I thought the gameplay was really fun - not too taxing, but collecting all the Toads wasn't something I could've done blindfolded. I think I'm fairly alone in my love for that game, though.

If you recommend it, I'll give it a chance. The whole "my emotions do damage!" thing turned me off but I'm willing to give it its day in my DS.

Yeah, I'd say it's worth a go. Cutesy and brainless, but definitely a fun game.

Romanji actually is standardized, I don't know how this one is so weird... O.O The kanji "有利" is hiragana-ized "ゆうり", which is literally yu-u-ri.

And to butt in on your convo about RL fandom secrets, perhaps it's just my age, but many of my friends and my previous 2 boyfriend's have all been into fandom (tho not necessarily the same ones as me). I've certainly been surprised with how open-minded many of my friends have turned out to be. XD

Really? I see different spellings of stuff everywhere... for example, shojo, shoujo, shôjo, and shōjo. Which is right? All of them? Some of them?

I definitely believe there are pro-fandom people out there... I mean, I'm talking to you, aren't I? :D I just don't know any IRL.

Re: 23, 35

[identity profile] hagaren22.livejournal.com 2007-10-17 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Shoujo is right (although shōjo tries to replicate the "oo" sound that "ou" makes in Japanese in a more phonetically-American-friendly way...just a different way of romanizing the same thing, still pretty standard though. The important thing is that it tells you there's a long "o" sound, which signals a "u" hiragana in there in a way that shojo w/o the "u" doesn't.). Shojo (no u) actually means female virgin, not girl, according to my dictionary. >.> And I know I've seen shounen written "shonen" but I don't think shonen is even a word...

And I guess that's why the internet is great, you can fangirl like crazy to people who clearly share your interests. XD Still though, I've found out that some REALLY surprising people IRL are into some version of fandom. You never know, one of your friends might also be a closet addict. :D
