I used to love this show, but I recently re-watched the Stargate serieses, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Weir and Teyla were okay, and Ronan was fun when he joined. Shepherd and McKay were overgrown man-children, though, and the show always was from the point of view that they were right even when they were wrong and/or disobeying orders. And as the show got further on, it became more and more just about them. Season 1 was pretty good. Season 2 was okay. Anything after season 2 was awful, though, apart from the occasional good episode.

First, it's Ronon and Sheppard.
Second, I still love this show to pieces, warts and all. Silly but it and McShep hold a special place in my fandom heart. And no doubt always will. My favorite season was Season 4 and my favorite episodes were Vegas and The Shrine, which occurred during the fifth season. McKeller was taking over in that last season so it kind of made me love it less, but I still enjoy the rewatches.

Aww... I think I'm part of the 0.5% of fandom that really liked McKeller.

Also, The Shrine was one of my favorite episodes too, but Vegas was kind of soured on my since I finally got to that episode after SGU had started airing, and just the style and SERIOUS drama of the whole episode reminded me of all the things I wasn't liking about SGU. Like Vegas was their spiritual forerunner to SGU.

Yeah, they drank too deep of the Battlestar kool-aid for Vegas and SGU. Even BSG wasn't that great for most of its run, so copying it was a surefire way to suck.

The desert shots in Vegas were the last filmed scenes of the entire series, which I think carries over in the cast's acting. All of them were probably pretty bummed.

Man, what? Sheppard and McKay are awesome. Whatever.
