Well, sometimes the missing children information is inaccurate or outdated. I've seen some that were just plain old fakes. God only knows why someone would do that, but there you go. *shrugs*

As for breast cancer awareness, there's a growing sentiment that breast cancer gets the lion's share of attention compared to other diseases, even ones that affect a greater percentage of the population. And then there's a legitimate dissatisfaction with the pink ribbon campaign (which seems to be more about marketing their "brand" than actually funding cancer research) and bullshit campaigns like "Save the boobies!" that focus on precious, precious ta-tas instead of, you know, lives.

Basically, FB is like the early days of the internet when everyone forwarded crappy chain letters and urban legends incessantly, only it's 2013.
