Is LiveJournal really dead? I still go on it pretty regularly.

Me too. It's how I keep in contact with several of my fandom friends.

No, it isn't, and I'm getting pretty fucking sick of all the "well, since LJ is dead..." secrets. It's starting to feel deliberate.

Yes, people are doing it deliberately to piss you off, anon. Only you.

Or it could be that LJ is dead in some circles and not in others, but that might be too logic?

AYRT "too logic"? Erm. Reading comprehension AND writing fail.

If take the trouble to read my comment,I'm not saying they are doing it TO piss me off, just that it DOES. The deliberateness appears to be about trying to kill off LJ fan participation by assumption and rumour.

It's not dead but like 10% the activity of its heyday at best in my corner. I can say 'almost dead', if you prefer that.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-22 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
In some fandom circles it is. In two of my fandom's it's been dead for almost 2 years. In another fandom, it's still pretty active. I think it depends on the fandom.

Yeah, it's dead. Can anyone point to any fandoms that aren't more active on Tumblr or some other platform?

I feel like AO3 has just really grown in popularity, and as a result, people aren't posting as much fic to LJ these days. It's easier just to have the insta-squee of Tumblr and Twitter with AO3 as the archive. There just doesn't seem to be as much demand for the journal-based model of LJ.

That being said, can anyone explain to me how intelligent discussion can occur on Tumblr? I've tried the comment+reblog model a few times, but have yet to engage in a discussion as easily as in LJ's comments.

ACD canon Sherlock Holmes. Jeeves and Wooster. Raffles. Mary Renault. Shall I go on?

Some fandom circles are dead. One of my fandoms is pretty nonexistent on lj anymore and it used to have a decent size of fans.

Same here.
