Yep. When I was a kid, they assumed I was lying to cover up an eating disorder because, you know, underweight young girl. Can't actually be having digestive problems. Just another anorexic trying to hide it.

My last gastroenterologist suggested the same thing, at which point my girlfriend got mad at him while I was trying to stop fuming long enough to respond rationally, and he stopped taking me seriously at all until I sat him down at our last visit and said "No, you LISTEN TO ME now. THIS is what is going on and why what you have said so far is a crock." And he actually did listen, admitted that he hadn't been taking me seriously since I kept having other people come in with me and he was glad to hear me speak for myself.

So he's a dick, and so am I, and we sort of came to an understanding of that and sort of bonded a little. Then I lost my health insurance before we could make any further progress. :P
