My only objection to her taking the name Captain Marvel is that it's actually a demotion for Carol. She was a Major in the Air Force. Major is a rank up from Captain. I mean, I get why she's going with Captain Marvel, the name has history, but still. It also would've been nice if she had spoken to Monica about it first.

Also not a big fan of the weird mullethawk hairdo. They should've either given her short hair or long hair instead of trying to split the difference.

The costume is pretty sweet, though.

Yeah I get that, but Major Marvel sounds kind of goofy tbh.

Monica hasn't had the name for decades though, and she wasn't even the last person to have it. That was Noh-Varr.

The hair thing is an artist's choice. A lot of artists give her pretty normal hair, but a few do the mullethawk thing (which I also think looks weird). Carol's hair has become kind of a joke within fandom. It's different with every artist. No one can seem to decide on anything consistent.

I don't know if you've read the comics (if you have, sorry for repeating stuff you know), but they actually addressed both of your issues in it.

In the first issue, Captain America said that he had been trying to get her "demoted" (by convincing her to take up the Captain Marvel moniker). A few issues later, she teams up with Monica and they Carol apologizes for not talking to her.
