Re: Music Genres

Also "country" music still sells albums. Other than the mega artists, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Jay-Z, country artists top the charts and sill more physical albums than most other genres.

NYC music is a good example, the rock station vanished several years ago to become a pop station. Then an alt rock station came on and became a sports talk station. Just last year, after 17 years with no country station, one appears and it's super popular.

Another good look at the trends would be to take a look at The Voice and the winner. Juliet Simms, the runner up to Season 2, was in the bad Automatic Loveletter and sang a few songs with All Time Low. PRIOR to auditioning for The Voice! Season three's winner, Cassadee Pope (who I adore) was in a pop punk rock band Hey Monday prior to the Voice and went solo and has now released a country album. The Season 4 winner, Danielle, also released a country single.

Look at the American Idol winners who have been long lasting. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, they're all country artists (or so-called country, Kelly Clarkson has switched genres)
