And it's okay to do all of the above at different times. You don't have to choose one and stick to it for all fandoms and all values of problematic.

Yeah, all of this. It can be genuinely difficult. Like, Harlan Ellison is a total sexist dickhead, and man has he said some horrible things about t3h qu33rz, both of which apply directly to me as a dyke. But wow, I legitimately like his writing. So I keep his books in my library - unlike those of Orson Scott Card - because he's not working those things into policy. But I have to acknowledge it every time I read something of his.
