Procrastination

(Anonymous) 2013-10-24 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I stayed awake tonight with the sole intention of working through the night on my project so that it didn't look so much like I'd not done a thing since the last time I dragged myself into college - a fortnight ago. Alas, I've watched three films and read a couple of fics instead and I have nothing at all to show for this term so far. I wish I didn't always fall into this cycle of not working, not working, panicking, skipping college, resolving to do better, and then starting over again with the not working.

SA. Aaaaand, that was just a complainy little post because I've been pretending it isn't happening again this year so I can't talk to anyone offline.

Hey, I don't know if you'll see this but you might want to drop by student mental health services. I mean, yeah, a certain amount of procrastination is normal but the overwhelming cycle that you're describing reminds me of a couple of friends who had a similar problem.

One's brain chemicals were shifting but not in the normal way. But, since it was her brain she couldn't see the symptoms or changes in herself. She takes a pill and is fine now, so you know, don't freak out about this suggestion.

The other had outside stresses/problems that she wasn't admitting were problems until they were overwhelming problems. Talking with someone really helped her sort it out. She's also fine now.

So, either way, student health services helped them figure out what was going on and how to get their lives (and classes!) back on track.

Just, you know, something to think about.
