It has to do with this part of your comment.

They see movies/games/tv shows/books where people lust after every attractive member of the opposite/same sex and fall into bed with everyone they meet within hours of meeting them and think "well I'm not like that at all! I need an emotional connection! I must not be a normal gay/straight/bi person!"

I know this seems argumentative, but it's also an honest question. Obviously I only can judge from my own experience. What I have seen in media, and in real life sometimes, is that it is common/normal to be sexually attracted to people based on things like that. I'm asking if you think that is not true.

It's also common/normal to be sexually attracted to someone because you share an emotional bond.
