I always got the feeling that earlier fans of the show are the most wincest shippers. Of course there are new fans that do ship it but I think that the later they started watching the less likely they are to ship it. (maybe that's just cause I shipped them from the end of season one)

nah, you're pretty spot on i think. i've watched the show since the s2 finale aired (that's when i caught up with it after marathoning), i was all about the wincest for a while, then along came cas, then it was dean/cas, and then i realized sam/cas should be more of a thing than it is, and decided wincestiel is the way to be. everybody's happy that way :D

I've usually found that too, anon. I think newer fans have a different experience of the show - marathoning earlier seasons doesn't tend to lead one to Wincest the same way I think watching them over years with a fandom did.

Actually I'm a new fan, after avoiding the show for so long, and I prefer Wincest waaaaay the heck over Destiel. I think that it helps that I'd already accepted Wincest years ago just from reading about the fandom wankery and I was already open to certain kinds of incest fic.

I don't know, if a new fan comes into the fandom with a history of shipping incest pairings, they'll probably take to Wincest.
