That is almost exactly how I taught myself to draw OP. Everyone says tracing dooms you, but it was the only way I got to where I could draw on my own... Oddly enough I can't trace worth shit anymore. How the hell does that even happen?

I've always had poor motor skills and for the longest time had awful handwriting and my hand naturally seemed to be shaking. It still does tremble but the tracing has helped me develop more control.
