(Anonymous) 2013-10-25 01:30 am (UTC)(link)Okay, that didn't really sound right because that's an accurate description, but my point is, we could say automatically assuming men are bigger threats is a strike against men just as easily as we could say the opposite for women.
Yes, I think most problems will be eliminated by recognizing institutionalized sexism against women. But I don't think we should ignore the problems that men face (I know that sounds awful and I'm not MRA, but you know what, there are things that do exist). For example, men can't be raped, men are less likely to win custody of children, and so on.
We need to focus feminism on gender inequality as it affects both genders, imo. we can't get equality by focusing on only one gender.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)I'm not suggesting we should ignore the problems that men face as a result of patriarchy; I'm suggesting that the best way to improve things for everyone, men and women, is to recognize and work to eliminate the effects of patriarchy.
