Ian McKellan officiated at Patrick Stewarts wedding this year, so I think it's fair to say that the friendship is real and not just a publicity stunt.

Maybe, maybe not. You still don't know anything real about them, so you're essentially creating a fantasy life in your head, tentatively based on some things you've heard secondhand reports of. We have no idea what their relationship is really like, so saying "I wish I had one like it" is just stupid.

Did someone kick your puppy into traffic today or something? You felt the need to totally trash someone's wishful thinking based on what they've seen of a lovely friendship?

Not everyone's as artificial as the people in your life, and they've always seem incredibly warm towards each other, just the kind of friendship I ALREADY have in my life. I recognize the signs. Maybe if you go make a real friend, you'll recognize the signs too.
