Sounds about right. I've worked at conventions for over a decade. I've gone to many just for fun. I don't anymore for personal reasons (Mostly money) but I get irritated when people act like conventions are for everyone and anyone can enjoy them. I think they can be great fun but I completely understand those who say they didn't have great experiences or felt overwhelmed, etc.

If you never want to try a convention again I understand. However, if you're looking for something better maybe try out a smaller one with clear rules, harassment policies that they enforce, are not severely understaffed, and aren't struggling financially. Also, maybe plan to go with friends. Going to a convention alone is always less enjoyable for me than going with people I know and care about.
