Not OP, but... on this pic they seem to have the average height difference there is between average men height and average women height.

So, in what is it even worth mentioning?

(and I think that's OP's point here. Not that they don't like height difference, more that they don't get why it's even important, considering that given height statistics, in a couple it's rather the norm than the exception that the man is taller than the woman?)

Unless the height difference is much bigger than it shows on this pic.

Haha, she def would. It's funny, I catch myself thinking about how adorable and tiny she is, then I remember I'm actually the tiniest bit shorter than her and feel silly.

She is 5'2" and he is 6'2". They are exactly one foot apart in height. Yet another thing about this show that is like the X Files!

Well that confirms what I was thinking - she's not (really) short, he's just damn tall!

And he's not even the tallest actor that she acts with. That would be Clancy Brown at 6'4". And in the scenes they have together, he's always sitting or she is much closer to the camera because otherwise, they wouldn't be able to frame the shot. She would be cut off.

I thought she was 5'1? Either way she's adorable and he is ridiculously tall.

And I never made that connection! I also didn't realize Scully was that much shorter than Mulder; it's been a long time since I watched X-Files.

They often had Scully standing on a box to get both of them in the shot better, so you wouldn't have seen the full height difference in the close-up shots. In fact I read somewhere they called them "Scully boxes."

Oh man, lmao, that sounds like it would get old fast. Poor Gillian! Maybe that's why I never realized the height difference. I was sure it was just my memory failing me.

I wonder if any shows still use the box Trick, or if it's all about camera angles and tall shoes now.

I don't see what the big deal is, but if people like it they probably ARE going to talk about it, so the only way to avoid it is to stay out of the fandom.
