I'm sorry that you had a terrible con experience, OP. I've been to both smaller and bigger cons and I can understand your embarrassment and dislike for the con experience. I go mostly as a lone wolf, so I can avoid a lot of the embarrassing fannish behavior. But not everyone that goes to a con is a stinky, inept fangirl.

If you didn't like it, then don't go to another one and just participate in fannish activities the way you have been previously. There's nothing wrong with not being into conventions and the general con-goer. There is a reason why the majority of con booklets have a bunch of rules for the convention and a section basically pleading with con-goers to regularly bathe.
