To be honest, you think about the amount of kids in Digimon, how many had outright one-dimensional abusive a**hole parents? It's quite impressive really. Can't speak for Seasons 5 and after because I never watched those.

I suppose the closest one that comes to mind was Jeri's father in Tamers and how he initially came off as a bastard for not coming to pick up his daughter after she returned from the Digiworld, making her come home with Takato and then being a jerk to her, made even harsher with the whole Leomon deal (*sniff*...still not over that). But even then the show went out of his way to show how he suffered as a widowed parent, not excusing his actions but making him seem like a real person. And when he knew Jeri was in real danger he was prepared to confront a giant blobby evil on his own to try to save her.

Really wish more shows would do that without going down the typical 'abusive or absent' parent problems for someone's issues.

I only watched Season 1 and 2 so I can't speak on the other parents, but each of the parents at least seemed to care about the kids.
