Non-romantic kissing on the lips

(Anonymous) 2013-10-27 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Is this a thing anyone else likes? Can anyone direct me to examples of it in fictional works or fanfic? Het, slash, femslash, doesn't matter. I just want to see some of it.

I know a lot of families that will kiss on the lips. A quick peck as a hello or goodbye or I love you. Don't know about writing though, sorry.

Some people think that the kiss between Mulder and Scully in the season 7 episode of the X-Files is platonic, since it's a New Years Eve kiss.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsHRgftSxaw ~:55 is the kiss in question, but IMO it's hardly platonic.

spoilers for Humiliated and Insulted

there was one between the commoner (? can't remember, it's been a while) Natasha and princess Katerina in Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Humiliated and Insulted

they were competing for the love of a prince, but when they finally met face to face they got along really well and were both all "daww, this woman is all right, I can't be mad at her" and they both realize the dude is gonna choose Kat because, you know, royalty, parental pressure, blah blah blah, but they're both okay with it? Nat is a gracious loser

and anyway then Katerina points out that since they don't move in the same social circles they'll never see each other again, which is a shame, because they could have been awesome bffs, so they share a goodbye kiss and part ways

or it might have been hot yuri tension i'm not sure
Edited (oh right dude was a prince ah ha ha poor nat never stood a chance) 2013-10-27 21:04 (UTC)

I remember reading a really good Sherlock Holmes fic where Watson dies to save Holmes from being shot by an enemy, and Holmes kisses his corpse on the lips (while in front of Lestrade, I think) before leaving him to chase after the guy who killed him. It was not labeled slash and there was no mention or implication of romance whatsoever in the story, just friendship. However, I cannot remember the title or author, and can't find it in my bookmarks.

Henry V/French Herald. Kiss of peace, though there's a smidgeon of romance that they didn't anticipate.

There's a movie about Hildegard von Bigen wherein she and the sisters and monks kiss. Especially when they're happy. It's like a huge hug.
