I've had similar experiences, in the vein that I'll read more personal blog entries from the author and find that I just really really do not like them while they're fic writing is probably my favorite ever. In one case it was enough that I couldn't help the negative feelings whenever I saw their name and it eventually soured the fic reading experience. Which was a shame since they wrote some of my formerly favorite pieces in that fandom.

However, if you can separate it I don't really see why you should stop reading her fic. It's not like you're giving her money or supporting the actual homophobic ideas, right? Why not enjoy the product and just avoid the hell out of the author outside of that.
