There's this song by Richard Shindell...

Basically the backstory is that he married a woman from South America (I think Venezuela?), and at the beginning of their courtship he didn't know much of her language. But eventually, he learned enough that he wrote her a song.

The translation is here, and I totally melted the first time I read it. Both from an intellectual AND an emotional angle, this song is just so freaking ADORABLE.
