I don't think it makes you a terrible person so long as you don't try to make the laws where you are reflect your religious beliefs. Also what another person here said, if don't you try to be friends with gay people without being honest about your opinion - I'm not gay, but I'd want nothing to do with anyone who feels there's something wrong with me because of, say, my black skin, even if they're still friendly despite it. That's what's hypocritical to me, when people who judge want to be accepted without being judged in turn.

I agree that my religious beliefs should have no bearing on laws. You're not obligated to want anything to do with me. I don't insist on being accepted by people who disagree with me--I have friends who think religion is bunk, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't hang out with me or pick me up if my car breaks down at 3 in the morning. Religion isn't the linchpin of my entire being any more than someone's sexuality is their one overwhelming defining factor. tbh I'm more likely to feel like there's something 'wrong' with someone who hates books...what's the jingoistic term for that? XD
