Perhaps you only noticed the brazenly shoplifting men, while there were many men shoplifting who just plain got away with it because you were fixated on observing the women due to tired old stereotypes that don't actually fit statistical data on shoplifting demographics. Imagine how many white dudes were able to pocket merchandise because your manager was hovering over black women all the time.
