To The Moon
(Anonymous) 2013-10-29 03:06 am (UTC)(link)I've been watching a really fantastic play through of a game called To The Moon; the premise is kind of hard to explain, but the driving story is of a husband trying to connect-- or rather reconnect-- with his wife of many years.
The absolute wonderful thing about this is that the game is not about boxing or labels or diagnoses, but how all of these things affect the people and their lives. The Asperger's part isn't central to the plot, the relationship between these two people are, but neither is it incidental to the characters, either.
I think, for me personally, it helped me understand how people on the spectrum communicate and make meaningful associations, and how it's not about being "normal", it's about learning how to communicate with everyone, and learn how they communicate. It's about loving and sharing, and getting through life together. :>
It's such a gentle, sweet game. I really suggest you guys check it out, or at least check out the playthrough. I think I've cried at least once every episode.
