See, that's what I'd thought, but I haven't really kept up with the manga or the anime so I figured I'd missed some new part of his backstory.

I caught a couple of episodes a few weeks ago on Toonami, and even though they were from pretty far along in the series, neither Inuyasha nor Kagome seemed to have had any kind of character development at all. They were the same snotty brats they had been at the start of the series. Do they at any point wise up and start gaining some kind of emotional maturity?

If it's the anime, there was a ton of really bad filler material later on (pretty much entire seasons of filler) that basically just wrote them exactly like they were at the beginning of the series. The anime suffered the infamous filler-itis disease that affects so many long-running series.

I think their development in the manga is pretty solid though (even if the manga starts to sort of suck in later volumes).
