Yep, and because nobody has said it yet: (this isn't directed at you necessarily but at the Public At Large)

If you have a black indoor/outdoor cat please keep him/her inside on Halloween. Stupid drunk people do really shitty things. =(

That doesn't really happen though, right? I hear a lot of PSAs on tumblr about it but never have I heard of an actual case. Am I just out of the loop?

I think there is a much greater risk of candy related incidents with pets eating chocolate but I have seen actual articles of attacks on cats period on Halloween.

That is also true. (for pets in general, if you're not careful.)

I haven't seen it personally, but I *have* seen some of the other stupid things drunk people do and I definitely think it's better safe than sorry.

According to friends of mine who have volunteered with shelters, it is unfortunately actually a true thing.

It really, really is. Thankfully, most people aren't like that, but we've always kept our black kitties indoors.

Cute to make up for it: However, it was absolutely adorable the year we were giving out candy and a five year old girl saw one of our black then-kittens. The squeal of "OMG! It's a BLACK KITTY... wait! There's TWO OF THEM!" (Actually three but the old cranky one avoids people). Cutest damn shit.

Aw, that sounds adorable. Kids and animals together is always so cute.

I might possibly be someone who watches those kinds of videos on youtube...

(Me too. I'm not ordinarily a kid person but kids and animals are just the most precious.)

#4 reminds me of the cat I cat-sit for.

And they all remind me of my evil black kitten who is taking way too long to turn into a cat.

#7 is so like my William, who climbs the Indian screens and sits on top of them when he's stressed.

He caught his first mouse of the season yesterday and left it on the bathroom floor for me!

By coincidence, all of the cats I've owned have been black, so they're my favorite.

I love black cats! They are so beautiful, sleek and gorgeous, those luminous eyes, those graceful lines, and of course those tiny adorable kittens with their oversize ears and cute little noses. I love this page! Gotta bookmark it to come back on days I need a smile! Thank you for posting this!

That was me, robertsloan2, once known as the Pernicious Kittenmonger because my black cat Hecky produced so many cute adorable little black kittens like that. I loved them all. I still miss them, had to give them up to be rehomed eventually, even Hecky, but I will never forget assisting her first kittening.

She had a breech birth and at one in the morning there was no vet open, no time. I had to pull the kitten out and hand her off to mum, hoping Hecky wouldn't reject her. I will never forget her deep relieved purr and that sweet look of gratitude in her golden eyes. She washed the kitten and then mewed to demand my hand, washed up kitten goo from my hand too. She had four more with no trouble at all, that gigantic first one sort of made the rest come easy.

I was so amazed that even as newborns you can see the shape of their faces, that they're little cats and will be cats, nothing else. Even with their eyes shut and ears off to the side like human ears, they looked like tiny little cats. Grew up into very fine healthy wonderful cats too, every one.
