Re: Question for people who watch The Big Bang Theory

Amy wasn't trying to "force Sheldon to out of his quirks". She was trying to help him by desensitizing him to lack of closure -- which previously had caused him severe mental distress, which is clearly part of his raging OCD. If it had worked his life would have been far better for it.

You make it sound like she was attempting to torture him into being a better boyfriend.

Unless they'd talked about it beforehand and he'd agreed to her "desensitising" him, it's not good that she was doing it, even if her motivations were to help. Desensitisation can backfire horrendously, which is why it's best started with a professional rather than your significant other doing it without your input or consent.

This. And it clearly backfired.

Well, CLEARLY, she caused him far MORE mental distress by forcing him to being that he is not.

He may have OCD, but it's clearly not affecting him badly cause he goes on just the same and happily for it.

And she was, there's no denying it at all. She was trying to change who he was, which, for him, was torture. He was angry at her, not his quirk. HER.

I hate and love that episode because of how he felt about the whole situation and her.

But it isn't him that she's working with, it's his disease. He is not his disease, even though he's lived with it so long that it seems that way. Leonard has commented that it's hell inside Sheldon's brain and he agrees.

Sheldon's anger at Amy was the anger of a child lashing out at a parent who was administering a medicine he doesn't like the taste of.
