From what I've seen of this, I kinda see both sides of the arguments. I can see the perspective of people who want to give it a chance, and the perspectives of people who are bummed it cut out stuff from the original fairy tale because the original fairy tale looked kickass.

The argument I find the most derptastic is thing about how the female characters look like Rapunzel or are copies of her. Those are based on leaked 'mock up' /concept' sketches. Things that were used to present the idea before it had any funding. So yeah they re skinned and existing character.

I do that in my writing /character sketching sometimes. The cutie in my avatar there? He was originally based of an AU version of a character from my main work. Until I fixed up him to be his OWN character with his OWN story. It doesn't make him any less original or unique because of where he came from.

I can see some other grievousness people might have. But trotting out the thing about the Rapunzel-models. nah bro...just...nah.

A couple things, the non-teaser trailer for Frozen has been released, and yeah, they're just Rapunzel. There's a gif floating around on tumblr with their faces over Rapunzel's and they fit perfectly.

And as for giving it a chance, the plot has already been leaked with the pre-release of one of the books. It's bland, really, really bland.

I don't think taking a character from another work of yours and giving him his own story is even remotely comparable to taking character designs from one show and recycling them for another.
