I believe Noel is very talented but he needs Julian to keep him grounded and on the right joke path. Otherwise, Noel goes too surreal and too non sequitor. He doesn't know when to pull back.

IA. Julian keeps the material coherent and adds the framework of which Noel can play off with his surreal sense of humour. When two people like them, who complement each others' style so perfectly, work together, it's like magic.

I haven't seen much of his newest stuff, but I agree that I enjoyed the interweaving of their comedy styles much more. I wonder if Julian's solo comedy (assuming he were doing some) would feel the same lack.

The caption is somewhat incorrect - Noel Fielding isn't 'formerly of the Mighty Boosh' because they never actually split up. They performed together at Festival Supreme a matter of weeks ago.

Formerly? I saw The Boosh live just two weeks ago, with new material. They're running full force together my friend. But yes, universes collide when they work together, apart it's just not as magical for either of them.
