No, he isn't Lex Luthor :P

But Mr. Escher's mannerisms and especially his curtness really bothersomely remind me of my ex's behavior patterns, and his physical appearance is also broadly similar. It wasn't a shit-hot relationship (lasted ~1 year, I initiated the break-up) and it's apparently had lasting effects almost 20 years later, if I'm still affected by actors who resemble him.

It's funny how someone can worm their way into your life and memories like that.
