I've been RPing since 2006 or so and I've never gotten hate comments. Neither have any of the people I play with, save for a tiny handful who deserved it for their terrible behavior.

If you aren't a jerk to other people and you aren't an atrocious writer/horribly OOC, you'll fly under the radar. And honestly, it's pretty narcissistic to think that people will care that much about you to give you crit or praise unless you're really, really good or really, really bad. The vast majority of people out there don't care enough to bother.

"it's egotistical of you to worry about people being nasty you about criticism?"

Fuck right off

That's a very human thing to be worried about when interacting with others. It's not "egotistical".

actually, it is. 99.9% of the people out there do not and will not ever give a shit about you. you're deluding yourself if you think that more than a small handful of people care about you enough to have any opinion at all.

there will always be people who don't like you, some for valid reasons and some for stupid, petty ones. the sooner you learn to stop caring about the latter, the happier you'll be. there is no rule that says you have to accept all criticism you're given about anything. if you disagree with it, you can always just thank them and tell them you don't agree, because that's your right.

I've been rping for about 14 years [so, since 2000] and I've had people get plenty nasty before. Granted, it's never been over my *writing* - but people who rp *can* get pretty damn mean over the stupidest of things [in my case, the times someone has been an ass has either been over A] my character getting ~too close~ to a character they wanted to rp romance with, or B] I was rping the "character I always rp".]

Bullshit. I know several very nice, very welcoming players who got a lot of problems just because they were extremely active players who interacted with a lot of people who wanted a bigger portion of their play time.

Sometimes people are just mean. Some venues create drama. Just because you managed to avoid it? Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It means you're damned lucky.
