Let me tell you a tale. Of Heather my arch-nemises. My first semester I had an awful (random) roommate. She was a spoiled rotten baby who always had boys over and kept the room at 80 degrees all the time. But the next semester a friend of mine and I moved in together. Heather and I had a pretty good semester together. We applied for a room together for after summer break. This was a mistake.

Over the summer, Heather became...what I can only describe as 'weeabo'. She was obsessed with everything Japanese and South Korean. I didn't mind because I was a pretty big fan of anime in high school. But Heather hated to share her interests. I'd try to engage her and she would get all huffy. During dinner time (we and our mutual friends sat together), she would get pissed if we didn't want to talk about anime all the time (sharing was fine if it was in a group).

But the worst part was the DDR. She would play keyboard DDR on her laptop. For hours, even when I tried to sleep. The ticky tacky of her playing that fucking game would make me so fucking pissed.

Once, I invited a mutual friend over to watch some movies (The Fall and Cool Hand Luke) and Heather got pissed at us. I never understood why. She refused to watch the movie until halfway through, The Fall. She then bitched about how the child actor was acting and complaining about not knowing what was happening.

We spent the year together (the last couple months were awful) and parted ways. I found a wonderful new roommate who I roomed with for 2 years.

Of course, Heather was still around. We had a bunch of mutual friends and still sat at dinner together. But we basically could not speak to each other. She would get mad at me for the weirdest shit and storm off. And the rest of us would just sit there flabbergasted. She got addicted to WoW. I played WoW all through college but it never affected my grades. But Heather started playing and missing classes/dinners. We would try to tell her she needs to cut back on her playing but she would just get pissed (just at me) and storm off.

She ended up not graduating and moving back home after the rest of us graduated. None of us have really talked to her since.

That is bizarre.

A note about the 80 degree thermostat - I would do the exact same thing if I were living alone since I despise being cold with every fiber of my being, but that is hella rude if you know your roommate doesn't like it. I roomed for a while with a very good friend and she would have set it to 70 or less if she were alone because she haaaates being hot. We compromised. (Why is compromising such a seemingly difficult concept for some?)
