Off topic, but . . .

Does this mean the gay guy in Archie is good representation? I don't read the comic, but apparently, his major conflict isn't his gayness, it's his desire to be like his father (whom he deeply respects.)

I haven't read Archie, sorry :x

but I'm not an expert on this anyway, it's just my observations, and a reflection of what seems to be a prevailing opinion on this topic (with which I happen to agree). Also I'm not queer so take with a grain of salt.

The Archie character isn't necessarily a better representation -- the reaction in fandom is a better reaction.

This secret doesn't address the way the character(/s) is treated in the writing, the performance, etc, but the way fandom has latched onto that, and nothing else seems to get talked about. They're like a bulldog with a bite. If you want to focus on any other part of the character, let alone the show, you get dogpiled and called a homophobe.

As a queer person, I LOVE that the writers have created a character who happens to be gay. It doesn't define how he does his job, his personality or friendships, what he eats for lunch. We hardly hear about Carlos, but since he's something we do hear about more often than any other single item in the series (yes, including Intern Dana and the Angels), it's more easily recalled.

I just wish the SJWs would move along and let fandom enjoy the character who HAPPENS to be gay. That's what media is missing.

I've only read a few of the Kevin comics and I'm not up to date at all, but I'd say he is. He goes on dates with boys all the time, which is excellent, because it seems to me that in most media gay guys are just their to be the fabulous understanding best friend of some straight woman. There's one issue where he goes to a Star Trek convention in cosplay and meets George Takei. I think my favorite moment out of the ones that I've read is when Kevin had two boys with crushes on them and someone was like "Oh no how is he gonna handle this?" and Archie said "Oh, he'll get used to it." Archie and the other straight guys aren't uncomfortable around Kevin at all. He's treated like every other character, and he doesn't seem like a token to me at all.

I really like Kevin!

Actually I like Archie comics in general these days. When the hell did they get good?

OH MAN. I haven't read any of these (I wanted to buy the one that started All That Controversy with a million moms or whatevs, but it was already sold out literally everywhere) but that's adorable.

Do want ;.;

I like Kevin too, and the creators' attitude towards him, but i think Ethel still only exists to be mocked.
