I don't think so, since you seem to be developing these characters rather than just simply throwing them away as plot device. I thought the whole 'fridging' thing was if you introduced characters with absolutely no character traits or personality; just there to solely kill them and further that male protagonists pain and angst.

That certainly seems like it would be unfortunate, and a boring missed opportunity as I LOVE developing characters.
