Sorry to bust your headcanon, but Batman also isn't that original of a character. The author may just be subject to osmosis like the rest of us.

It is possible but there were too many coicidences.*Spoilers for the book*

The hero's parents died after a nigth a the theater in front of him because his mother had a emerald necklace. And in the middle of the book, there was an escape from Bedlam, the asylum!

That doesn't say anything about the character so much as the backstory, though. And as a previous thread mentioned, the tragic death of the hero's parents is a pretty standard cliche, especially "senseless" deaths like being victims of mugging or bank robberies or such.

Well, the hero is called a monomaniac by an other character because he spends his nights trying to avenge the murder of his parents.
