Yep, it's better to meet around an activity, be it a film or a concert or a con or going sightseeing around filming locations. If it's just two hours over coffee, then it can be a bit awkward, unless both of you are the type of people who can easily navigate social situations and just jump in there.

It can really depend, some fandom friends I never got over that awkwardness and other people it was like we'd been friends for years.
