Re: bad roommates thread

I once had some roommates who apparently thought I was the Problem Roommate. We shared a suite of adjoining dorm rooms that shared a bathroom and I had a single bedroom, so I tended not to have a lot of contact with them unless one of us made the effort. One day, I got a message from our RA saying I needed to attend a mediation session in her room. I got there and my roommates were all there and the RA started outlining the complaints they were leveling at me. These were all things that A) were really minor or excusable and B) had never been mentioned to me at all, not even in passing or with a passive-aggressive note. My roommates had just gone straight to the RA without even saying anything to me first. I said I was sorry and would try not to do any of these things again, but in the future I'd really appreciated it if they just told me when there was a problem. The RA said I could go while the roommates stayed and I don't know what happened after, but I liked to think the RA chewed them out a bit for not bothering to try to communicate with me first. I made an effort not to do the things that annoyed them for the rest of the year and they never spoke a word about the incident (or complained to me about anything else) ever again.

At least it got sort of resolved. My old roommate and I had some suite mates who did that once with the bathroom. They called a session with the RA without talking to any of us. They did leave passive-aggressive notes first, and they kept leaving them later too.

Ugh, people like that are the worst. It's like, how am I supposed to know someone has a problem with me if they don't SAY SO, you know? I'm not a god damn mind reader. Sorry you had to go through that, anon. ):
