What manga are you reading where the girls always seem to have erect nipples? Most of the stuff I read doesn't feature them and I read a variety of genres. Are you reading fanservice harem manga or something?

I included manga mainly because I didn't want to seem like I was singling comics out, but looking at I what I've read lately (ie Skip Beat and Otoyomegatari) there isn't as much of an issue as I thought. Although, the manga reboot of Birdy: Decode did have an issue but I dropped that after being utterly disappointed in the pacing and aimless plot. (The anime version is loads better, btw.)

There's a few comics that don't have that really have much of an issue either; Saga has done pretty well for the whole erect nipple thing for being a fairly explicit comic.

This is a pretty dumb discussion, though. Let's talk about cool comics and stuff instead.

Oh, I see. I undetstand that then.

Let's talk about awesome Otoyomegatari is and how Kaoru Mori is such a fantastic artist, then. Seriously, I cannot get enough of her manga and art. Though I am a bit behind on the manga. Since it is bimonthly, I usually get behind and then go on a rereading binge of the series to catch up.

Never read Ski Beat, so can't talk about that. I've not read a lot of shoujo. I'm that into the genre but I'm open to recs.

For sure, I actually found out about the Otoyomegatari after I stumbled across those in the making videos. I can't get over how detailed the patterns are and the amount of work the Kaoru Mori puts into it. I love how she opted for an kind of unconventional too. I've just started the series, but I'm loving what I've read so far.

I haven't read much shojo either. I actually read it on a friends's recommendation. They have a sort of bait and switch romance at that's switched in the first chapter and another romance later. I've been pleasantly surprised by it.

I've actually just recently gotten into the whole anime/manga scene, so I don't have all that much is that unheard or unappreciated of to recommend.

Only thing I can think manga-wise of is maybe Koe no Katachi? It's a surprisingly accurate one-shot about bullying and had a pretty heavy emotional impact for me at least, so come prepared. I like a few cute slice of life things too, but I bet you've already heard of Yotsuba&! and Chi's Sweet Home.

Anime-wise, I've really like Tsuritama, Birdy: Decode, and what's been released of Kyousogiga. Hataraku Maou-sama was pretty fun too but the second half isn't nearly as fun as the first. I enjoyed Working!! a fair bit too. Baccano! is really great too if you haven't had the chance to see it yet.

I'd be open for recs too. I'm pretty across board in what I like, but I'm not too big on ecchi or harems. I'm pretty new as well and haven't read too much manga, so older stuff would be great and manga recs would awesome.

You've already seen those videos, huh? I'm a bit relieved because I don't have a link to them atm and I'd hate to bring them up without a link. But yes, omg, those videoes are amazing. The amount of time and detail she puts into her series is just mindblowing. That woodworking chapter of Otoyomegatari is proof of that.

Just wait until you get to the chapter where they show all that needlework. My god, the detail!!! The love and attention she puts into her series really makes her work all the more awesome. My memory is a bit foggy so I can't discuss the series too in depth with you since it has been a while since I read it.

I'm not one for romance manga, bevause a lot of the tropes really grate me especially in shoujo. I will check it out though.

I've been into anime/manga for years but not as much these past few years. I sort of got turned off by the direction of the current anime industry so I've been focusing on manga.

As for manga, I'm going to rec Aria. It's an optimistic slice of life manga focusing on group of young women Gondoliers on a terraformed Mars. It is heartwarming and the characters and their relationships are well written. The art is gorgeous. I haven't seen the anime but I've heard they are good. The soundtracks for them are beautiful and relaxing. I got more manga recs but I will put them in a new post in a bit. I've not read that manga before. Will check it out too.

As for anime recs, I'm not sure what I could rec you that you probably haved seen recced on this comm before. Hm, let me think on it.

Excuse any typos. I'm on my phone and it is a bit hard to check for them. It is kind of a pain to post replies on it and takes a while. I don't mind though, since I'm up for chatting. Hope you don't mind the wsit for my replies too much.

If you like more 'realistic' anime, you may appreciate Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. It is about two kids trying to get home after an earthquake. I will warn you that it is also likely to make you cry a lot, if you are the sort of person to cry at shows.

Also ahhh! Someone else who likes Birdy the Mighty: Decode and also Otoyomegatari! <3
